Jason Wu Spring/Summer 2013 RTW – New York Fashion Week

Carolyn Murphy was the one to open the Jason Wu spring show at New York Fashion Week, looking extremely sexy in a body-hugging and short croc-embossed leather sheath and a pair of killer pumps, while her blonde hair was slicked back and she had bronzed limbs. She seemed to have walked out of a Helmut Newton photograph and it was not by chance. Wu actually drew inspiration from Newton, as well as Lillian Bassman for the Jason Wu spring/summer 2013 collection. As a result, we could see the trend of fetishism – the black and white tailoring, leather harnesses and androgynous touches, spiced up with a soft and feminine vibe.

The Jason Wu spring/summer 2013 collection would never work without leather and lace, which were combined into show-stopping, seductive outfits. He teamed up with La Perla for the underwear pieces and it got reflected on the outwear too, mainly on the duo of lace and leather. It was a perfect statement of sex-appeal and lady-like allure.
The Jason Wu spring/summer 2013 collection brought into spotlight full silhouettes, laser-cut in order to incorporate black lace trim, as well as printed silk, pretty peplum, voluminous tulle skirting, studded leather belts, black, white, coral and navy blue shades. The line was packed with lace blouses, cigarette trousers, high-waisted shorts and leather skirts with lace appliqué, delicate feminine dresses, skirts and evening tulle dresses. The designer also paid much attention to the accessory choices and finished off the looks with round hatbox bags, travel cases, pumps – some with thick, pearl-studded ankle straps and crystal heels. Bold, sexy, feminine and amazing, as Jason Wu’s signature style is!
